OUR ETHOS

At Gertrude, we believe that an artist's practice should be protected from the distractions of logistics and administration. Our role is to provide clarity, structure, and strategy-allowing artists to focus ontheir work while we ensure the necessary frameworks are in place to sustain and elevate their careers.

Our ethos is rooted in:

Curatorial Precision - Every artist's practice deserves thoughtful, strategic guidance that is as refined and considered as the work itself.

Industry Intelligence - With deep knowledge of the contemporary art world, we help artists navigate exhibitions, sales, and commissions with confidence.

Administrative Relief - We manage the operational demands of an artist's career-email inquiries, invoicing, scheduling-so they can focus on their work.

Long-Term Vision - A sustainable career requires foresight and strategy. We provide a structured yet flexible approach that evolves with an artist's practice.

ABOUT US

Gertrude is a curatorial office based in San Francisco and Los Angeles, led by seasoned curators, gallery directors, and artist managers with a refined approach to artist representation and career strategy. We provide both curatorial insight and operational support, ensuring that artists can focus on their creative practice while we handle the business of sustaining it.

Our work spans career advisement, exhibition planning, sales and collector engagement, and administrative management-from responding to inquiries and handling invoicing to crafting public narratives and refining an artist's online presence. With backgrounds in international galleries, museum-level exhibitions, and high-level artist management, we offer a discerning and strategic perspective tailored to each artist's needs.

Gertrude is not a traditional gallery, nor an agency. It is a curatorial office-a place where artists receive expert guidance, meaningful career support, and a structure that allows their practice to grow with intention.

Gertrude is a place where artists are taken seriously-where conversations about work, career, and sustainability are met with both curatorial depth and operational efficiency.
